Remy Jungerman
Booth 335
Fridman Gallery will present new works by Dutch artist Remy Jungerman. Recently chosen to represent the Netherlands at the 58th Venice Biennale, Jungerman melds various artistic traditions with symbols relating to the African diaspora. The artist's large, abstract sculptures reference the De Stijl movement whilst incorporating
patterns from the Maroons of Suriname. Subtle details, including nails driven through the bers of canvas covered boards, also reference legal rituals associated with the Winti religion. Drawing from global sources, the sculptures examine diverse historical influences as a social progression toward a united future.
