Join us for the launch of Mātrikā’s Muse: A Journey to Awakening Through the Senses by Lara Sanderson. Mātrikā’s Muse is a luminous and transformative tale that invites readers into a deeply personal journey of healing, spiritual awakening, and feminine wisdom.

Set in a lush retreat surrounded by nature’s quiet majesty, the story unfolds through the intimate dialogue between Athena, a young seeker, and Lila, her wise elder. Their conversations—woven with themes of trauma, resilience, and spiritual growth—gently reveal how everyday experiences can become gateways to profound transformation. Through gardening, cooking, dreaming, and meditating, Athena begins to reclaim her inner power and awaken to the sacredness of life.

Interspersed throughout the narrative are reflective interludes like “Tending to Growth” and “Meditation on Heart’s Desire,” which encourage readers to pause, absorb, and apply the wisdom in their own lives. The structure of the book mirrors the spiritual path itself: nonlinear, gentle, and deeply personal. Mātrikā’s Muse is not just a story—it’s an experience. It speaks to the universal nature of trauma and the possibility of redemption through presence, practice, and connection.

This gathering is free and open to the public. Please dress comfortably. It will be a welcoming evening—come as you are and take part in whatever way feels right to you.

After fifteen years leading campaigns and initiatives in the public sphere, Lara turned inward—devoting herself to spiritual practice following the loss of her sister in 2011. Her journey through grief and awakening led to a life of contemplative study, teaching, and writing.

A Marshall Memorial Fellow and longtime advocate for social change, Lara now shares insights from her solitary path with readers seeking meaning, resilience, and peace. Her current work explores how personal awakening can ripple outward to heal communities and systems.
