Jerome Lagarrigue was born in 1973 to a French father and an African American mother. Lagarrigue made his mark in the artistic realm after relocating to the United States in 1992, where he graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 1996.
Venturing across continents, Lagarrigue’s residency at Villa Medici in Rome in 2005 provided the backdrop for his solo exhibition Paesaggio del Viso (Landscapes of the Face).
He has collaborated with luminaries such as Maya Angelou and the Metropolitan Opera. In 2021, he partnered with George Lucas to create limited edition Star Wars-inspired works on paper.
His works are in the permanent collections of the Brooklyn Museum and Torrance Art Museum, and part of the traveling show Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys.
